So, as some of you may know I got back from Mexico a little over a week ago, and my tan, or should I say my blackness:), is fading fast:( It’s always so sad when that starts to happen. It’s almost like your vacation bliss washes away with it. The same thing happened to me last summer after my trip to Jamaica. Luckily I discovered a wonderful bronzing product by Sue Devitt called Liquid Gold Coast: Bronzing Glow for face and body. I absolutely L-O-V-E this stuff! I’m not one to put a lot of bronzing lotions and things on my face because my skin is naturally so oily, but this is one that I swear by! This fluid formula is super light and blends seamlessly on the skin. You just add a drop or two (depending on how tan you want to look) to your moisturizer and mix the two together before distributing it evenly onto the face. I’ve always been a huge fan of the double-ended lipgloss and teeth whitening products, and my first introduction to this type of product was celebrity dentist, Dr. Pia Lieb’s Sexy Smile. However, I didn’t totally love it because 1) it tasted nasty and 2) the pack would always bust open, because of the intensity of the hydrogen peroxide (which is the teeth whitening active). Well, Tarte has taken that same fantabulous concept and partnered with well known teeth whitening brand, BriteSmile, to achieve an oral whitener that works, and tastes good. It’s also breath freshening, so it’s really like a 3-in-1 product! The formulas are housed in a flow-thru, dual-ended pack, with a brush applicator on both ends. So the process is completely mess-free and hygienic, since you don’t have to double dip the whitener every time you put it in your mouth. Yuck! And though I’m goo goo over the whitener, unfortunately, I’m not a big fan of the tacky lipgloss. But who says you have to use the gloss that’s included? So I just substitute with one of my other fave glosses. Besides, who ever carries only one lipgloss in their purse anyway? The water was beautiful, the sun was hot as hell, and I smelled delicious thanks to my friend Tracy, who hooked me up with a couple of bottles of Missoni’s new fragrance, ACQUA. Last summer I was all about the floraly, jasminey scents, but this summer I’m loving the more citrusy aromas. Acqua is a light and clean fragrance that was inspired by the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. With fresh notes of grapefruit, bergamont, melon, and hints of florals, this fragrance maintained it’s freshness and wore through the hot and humid days. Not only is it back, but it’s more colorful than ever! Some of this season’s hottest nail colors range from the deepest purples to the brightest oranges. The selection is all over the spectrum. One of my fave shades this season is Zoya’s nail enamel in shade Creamy. This bright sunshine yellow is the perfect compliment to this season’s yellow fashion. I mean yellow is EVERYWHERE this year! And though I wore my share of yellow last summer, there’s still something really fresh and new about the shade and I’m still enjoying it just as much this year. I honestly don’t know what make-up artists did before the angled brush was thought of. Not only is the angled brush great for creating the perfect cat eye, but it’s great for filling brows in with a brow powder formula as well. It’s also fantabulous for creating a soft edge liner look when used with a pencil eye liner (sharpen pencil, stroke brush on pencil tip until you get a good amount of product on brush and gently sweep across the upper or lower lash line). But it doesn’t stop there! The angled brush also makes good as a substitiute for those moments when you can’t find your lip brush. As a make-up artist I NEVER travel without at least 1 angled brush in my case/kit. But I have to confess….I own at least 20;-) And yes, I use EVERY single one! I love the color, but unfortunately I’m not a big fan of MAC’s nail polish formula, as I don’t find that they wear long enough. But maybe with the right combination of basecoat and topcoat I can work on extending the wear. We’ll see! The pearls used in this product are made of large particle sizes so they reflect light to mimic the shine and brilliance of jewels, such as quartz and opal. Available in 16 shades, this formula is packaged in vial pack. According to the site (www.maccosmetics.com), the formula can be worn over lipglass, lipstick, or by itself to add dimension to the lips. I haven’t tried the formula yet, but you know I’ll let you know what I think as soon as I do!
